Wayne A. Hughes, 71, Glen Park, passed away at his home Monday evening, October 13, 2025 with his family at his side.
Wayne was born in Watertown March 20, 1954, son of Edmond and Evelyn (Morrow) Hughes. He was a graduate of General Brown High School and received his associates degree from JCC, receiving the Chancellor's Award. On February 20, 1976 he married Julie S. Tyo at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.
Wayne entered the US Army July 16, 1981. He received several decorations and medals, including the Good Conduct Medal and the Army and Oversea Service Ribbons. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on June 26, 1987.
He was an EMT for Guilfoyle Ambulance Services and was also a nationally registered EMT. Wayne also worked as a residence employee for JRC and finally retired from Davison Auto. He was a member of American Legion Post 588. He was a former member of Glen Park Volunteer Fire Dept. and Ft. Campbell Rescue Squad. Wayne volunteered at Samaritan Medical Center. He enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycles, woodworking, restoring antique furniture, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Along with his wife, Julie, Wayne is survived by his daughter, Jennifer J. Bladek, Felts Mills; son Michael W. (Kayla) Hughes, Adams; Meghan Williams, Glen Park, his bonus daughter who lovingly cared for Wayne; seven grandchildren, Gavin, Collin, Camden, Piper, Gauge, Brody, and Mila; two sisters, Kelly (Mike) Lane, Summerville, SC and Renee (Rob) Montegue, Saratoga Springs; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Kevin and Bradley Hughes; and his son-in-law, Ryan M. Bladek.
A calling hour will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Tuesday, October 21, from Noon to 1:00 PM followed by his funeral service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
