Virginia R. Comins, 93, formerly of NYS Rt. 12E., Clayton passed away Monday, August 12, 2013, at James Square Nursing Home, Syracuse.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton on Sunday, August 18, from 2 - 4PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Monday, August 19, at 10:15AM followed by the funeral mass celebrated at St. Mary's Church at 11AM with Rev. Arthur LaBaff officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Mrs. Comins was born in Clayton on February 11, 1920, daughter of Charles J. and Mary E. Moineau Reff, and she attended school in Clayton. In January of 1943 she married Raymond W. Comins at St. Mary's Church, and Ray, a local carpenter, died on July 24, 1967.
Virginia was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and sewing. She had been a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a former member of both the St. Anne's Society and the Cenacle Group at the church.
She is survived by her four children, Patricia and Ronald Seeland, Syracuse, Richard Comins, Webster, John and Jean Comins, Rochester, and Teresa Comins, Rochester; eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter; three siblings, Charles Reff and Grace Ahlheim, both of Watertown, and Sr. Faith Reff, Pakienham, Ontario; sister-in-law, Pat Reff, Campbellsville, KY; son-law, Bruce Sabacek, Vestal; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Sabacek, two brothers, John Reff and Robert Reff, sister, Sr. Rita Reff, sister-in-law, Patricia Reff, and brother-in-law, John Ahlheim.
