Verna J. Crabb, 93, Watertown passed away Sunday morning, June 21, 2026, at Samaritan Keep Home.
Verna was born in Providence, RI on November 20, 1932, daughter of Neil H. and Cathryn (Helmer) Jackson. After her father died when she was a child, her mother Cathryn raised her three girls in the Clayton area, where Verna graduated from Clayton High School. Cathryn eventually married Claude Coats. On June 18, 1976 she married Peter M. Crabb in the Town of Leray and he died December 7, 2025. She was previously married to John F. Thibault.
Verna had worked the lunch counter at Woolworth's Five and Dime. She then began her career at KeyBank. She began as a teller, moved her way up the ladder, working in loans, and she retired in the late 1980's as a Department Head.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Verna was a devout servant to her faith, going to Bingo and supporting their food bank. She looked forward to lunching with her friends once a week. The couple wintered in Tarpon Springs, FL and summering in Sackets Harbor, before moving to Watertown permanently in 2006.
Verna is survived by her three children, Trudy M. (Larry) Marselis, Watertown, Timothy J. Thibault, FL and Tamara A. (Tim) Franks, KY; Peter's two children, Marlene R. Blaisdell, Redwood and Michael L. Crabb and Sandra "Sam", Theresa; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her father and mother and step father, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Velma Vendetti and Cathryn Guyette.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, at 10:00 am at St. Anthony's Church followed by the couple's burial in Riverside Cemetery, Cape Vincent.
