Theodore F, "Ted" Bogenschutz, 71, Brooks Dr., Clayton, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm, Watertown.
A memorial mass will be at the family's convenience at Ted's request and there will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.
Ted was born in Carthage on February 18, 1942, oldest child of Thomas M. and Veronica Gates Bogenschutz Sr. He graduated from Weedsport Central School and attended two years at Broward County Community College.
On November 12, 1959 he entered the US Navy and served actively until January 25, 1963. He was honorably discharged from the Reserves as an Ensign 3rd Class on November 11, 1965.
Marriages to Anita Kiesa and Dorine Carneige ended in divorce.
In Pompano Beach, FL he served as a firefighter for twenty years from November 1967 until his retirement. In February 1989 he moved to Clayton, and was a school bus driver for the Thousand Island School System for fifteen years. Ted was a member of the American Legion Colon Couch Post 821.
Ted is survived by his mother, Veronica A. Bogenschutz, Clayton; his two daughters, Veronica Alice Carlson, Spanish Fork, UT and Heather Marie, IL; his five grandchildren, Jessica, Julia, Hunter, Jared, and Sierra; his adored great granddaughter, Alexis Veronica; six siblings, George T. and Claire Bogenschutz, Nunda, SD, and Catherine L. "Kitti" Emm, Judy A. George, Suzanne A. Zimmer, Thomas M. and Bonnie Bogenschutz, Jr., and Laura E. and Mark A. Reff, all of Clayton; his sister-in-law, Gail Bogenschutz, Depauville; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas M. Bogenschutz, Sr., December 25, 2012, brother, Timothy J. Bogenschutz, October 2000, three nieces, Molly Foti, Heide Emm, and Lorie Sue Carlisle, and two nephews, Michael Bogenschutz and James George.
