Sheila Hasner Badour, 76, Cape Vincent passed away Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.
Sheila was born in Cape Vincent June 8, 1948, daughter of James A. and Florence L. (Burnham) Cromwell. She graduated from Cape Vincent High School and received her associates degree from Boston Business School. On April 23, 1977 she married Charles F. Hasner at Millens Bay Union Church and he died February 8, 2005. She then married Lewis J. Badour at the Depauville United Methodist Church on October 3, 2009 and he died May 2, 2020.
From 1967 - 1988 Sheila worked as a teller and helped with mortgages at several local banks. She was an accountant in her home from 1988 - 1993. In 1993 she began working for H & R Block, which she purchased in 1997. She sold the business in October 2017 and retired from accounting and tax preparing on April 16. 2019.
Sheila was a member of the United Church of Cape Vincent. She was a volunteer and Level 3 EMT for the Cape Vincent Ambulance. She was on the board of the American Red Cross, taught CPR and was an EMT instructor at JCC. She was a member of the Cape Vincent Improvement League, St. Lawrence Cemetery Board, Cape Vincent American Legion Auxiliary Post 832, and for many years was a Girl Scout Leader. Sheila served on the French Festival Committee and in 2008 it was dedicated to her. She enjoyed going to casinos.
Sheila is survived by her six children, Susan (Michael) Cousins, Watertown, Donald Hasner, Louisville, KY, Michael Hasner, Cape Vincent, Douglas (Valerie) Hasner, Depauville, Jacquelyn Aznoe, Cape Vincent, and Jamie (John) Lettiere, Holiday, FL; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and one on the way; sister Velma Bogenschutz, Boyertown, PA; foster sister Judy (Al) Minahan, Central Square; nieces, nephews, and cousins; and also survived by her second husband's extended family. She was predeceased by her parents, two husbands, son-in-law Steve Aznoe, and brother-in-law Ross Bogenschutz.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 13, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc, Clayton from 4 - 7 PM. The funeral service will be at the United Church of Cape Vincent on Saturday, December 14, at 10 AM with Pastor Marc Thomas presiding followed by burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
