Sally Rogers Obituary

Sally Ann (Daniels) Rogers, 82, Clayton passed away Friday afternoon, August 9, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center.

She was born June 3, 1942, daughter of Donald G. “Jack” Daniels and Georgia Alberta (LaRose) Daniels, and she was a graduate of Clayton High School.

Sally was the wife of John Ralph Rogers; Mother of Laura M Bolke (Kent) and Rick J Rogers (Jodi) (pre-deceased mom); Grandmother of Rodrick AK Knapp (Erica), Colin J Knapp (Shelby), Jesse A Knapp (Jamie), Brandon (Hannah) Marshall, and Bridget Dupre (Ryan); and Great Grandmother of Amber R Knapp, Robert P Knapp, Lennon Marshall.

What can I say about my mother in a few moments that can sum up her lifetime? Do I talk about her strength through 80+ years? What about the amount of love she spread? Or her incredible patience? What about the amazing mother she was OR the incredible wife? I could regale you with stories of all the people she touched as a daycare provider or a small business partner. What about her faith in God through many trials and tribulations? Oh and what about her sense of humor? There were many facets to my mother. And just like the facets of a diamond can absorb and reflect light, my mother could absorb what was going on around her and reflect the light of love. I don’t believe there was a time I didn’t know that Mom loved us even when things might not have been the best.

Mom married Dad (John Rogers) after a whirlwind romance on March 26, 1972. She always said she knew he was the one. They had me and then added my little brother Rick in 1975. She had her perfect family. Mom was always a hard worker. She grew up on a farm, that was the way of life. Mom held jobs outside the home until she and Dad got married. Mom always had a garden and I remember her canning and storing food. Mom could bake to beat the band! Pies, cakes, donuts, cookies, you name it. She could sew and she made matching outfits for me, her, and my Barbies. She tried her hand at macrame, crochet, and many other crafts. One of my mother’s favorite things to do was clean. Our home was always ‘spit-shined’. My brother and I were lucky enough to come home to our mom every day after school. She ran a daycare from the house so she could be home for us. She would ‘tuck’ us into bed every night.

As the years went on, Mom went to work at Bradley Military, where she retired in 2010.

In retirement, she and Dad had much more time together. If you knew Mom you also knew of her adventurous streak She LOVED to drive fast. She’d jump on a horse and ride it. She was always up for jumping on the motorcycle with Dad. Hell, she even jumped on a Segway at 76, fell, and broke her ankle.

Mom grieved also. She grieved the loss of a baby. She grieved the loss of their son Rick. And of her parents.

So you see, there were many facets to my mother and we will miss every single one.
