Rosemary P. Rogers, 95, Clayton and formerly of Thousand Island Park, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family Wednesday evening, August 7, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center.
Rosemary was born in Clayton, NY on March 24, 1929, daughter of Lawrence and Winnie (Garnsey) Pelow. She was a graduate of Clayton High School.
On September 25, 1948, she married "the boy next door", Robert Foster Phillips, at the Clayton United Methodist Church. Robert died October 4, 1975. On March 17, 1978, Rosemary later married Dr. Orin L. Rogers, in the T. I. Park Chapel and he died August 11, 1991.
She retired as Paymaster from Clayton Manufacturing Co. after 25 years of service to the company. Rosemary then ran The Guzzle at T. I. Park and volunteered in her daughter's kindergarten classroom at the Brownville/Glen Park Elementary School for 17 years.
She was a member of the Clayton United Methodist Church serving as Assistant Financial Secretary for 10 years, and helped with the mailing of newsletters. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Society. Rosemary enjoyed gardening, birdwatching, and loved to travel. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren at her home on the St. Lawrence River.
She is survived by her daughter Cranda and son in law Geoffrey W. Burghardt, Brownville; two grandsons and their wives, Geoffrey C. and Ashley Burghardt, St. Albans, VT and Robert W. and Jennifer Burghardt, White House, TN; Four great grandchildren, Aiden, Katelyn, Carter, and Ethan; and several nieces and a nephew.
Rosemary's family would like to express their appreciation to all her caregivers over the years, including Cheryl Karpel, Audrey Boname, Julia Boname, Debra Jenness, Jen Evenson, and Jenna Wheeler.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, August 15, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton, NY from 11am - 12pm, with the funeral service beginning at 12pm with Pastor Earl LaLone presiding.
