Robert J. Semione

   NYS Retired Trooper Robert J. Semione, 88, Watertown, NY passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown.

   Bob was born January 23, 1936 in Gloversville, NY, the son of Louis and Pauline Semione and graduated from Gloversville High School in 1953.

   Bob enlisted in the US Navy in 1956. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Gloversville where he married Sally Mosher. Together they had four children. The marriage ended in divorce. However they were able to form a lasting friendship. On August 27, 1992 he married Fern L. Walter at their home in Black River, NY.

   In 1962 Bob joined the NYS Police. In 1971 was promoted to Investigator in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation, where his specialized area included child abuse and neglect cases. While in this capacity, he became an instructor at the NYS Police Academy in Albany. He loved being a State Trooper more than anything.

   After his retirement in 1986, Bob accepted a position with Key Bank as Security Officer for the Northern district.. He left there in 1994 to attend the US Marshals Service Training Academy. Following completion of his training, he served as security for Federal Magistrate Judge Daniel Scanlon until the Judge's death in 1998. After that he served several years as Court Security Officer for City Court in Watertown.

   Bob loved feeding the birds and watching deer. He enjoyed summers at his cottage on the St. Lawrence River and feeding chipmunks on his deck.

   In addition to his wife, Fern, Watertown, he is survived by his children, Robert (Alice) Semione, Brownville, Virginia "Ginny" (Bud) Frattali, Watertown, Richard (Kathleen) Semione, Oswego, and Christopher (Melissa) Semione, Sackets Harbor; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Louis (Anna) Semione and David (Renae) Semione, all of Schenectady. Bob was predeceased by his parents and infant sister Mary Ann.

   Private services will be on May 31, 2024. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown and online condolences may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com.
