Richard J. Hoistion, 65, Norfolk and formerly of Watertown passed away Monday, January 20, 2025, at Massena Hospital.
Richard was born in Watertown March 21, 1959, son of Roger H. and Harriet J. (Reff) Hoistion. He was a graduate of Watertown High School and attended JCC. On August 22, 1987 he married Margaret McIntyre in Burrville.
He was a Union Carpenter for United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 747, Watertown, then he worked five years at Breyers Yogurt Plant, North Lawrence. Richard was a lover of history and nature. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He was known for being a real "softie" with his cats.
Along with his wife Margaret, Richard is survived by his brother, James A. (Vilma) Hoistion, W. Springfield, MA; six sisters, Sarah J. Hoistion, Watertown, Rita M. (Robert) Gefell, Watertown, Jackie J. (Dave) Weil, Harpers Ferry, WV, Amy S. Keegan, Overland Park, KS, Lisa R. (Thomas) Luptak, St. Augustine, FL, and Judy A. Arvan, Franklin, OH; and two aunts, one uncle, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers-in-law, Dana Agar and Thomas Arvan.
There will be a calling hour on Tuesday, January 28, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown from 12:30 - 1:30 PM followed by a prayer service at the funeral home at 2:00 PM.
