Rachel L. Reff

Rachel L. Reff, 80, Jane St., Clayton passed away Saturday morning, August 10, 2013, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice.

A funeral service will be held at the Clayton United Methodist Church on Friday, August 16, at 11AM with Pastor Donald Briant officiating and burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.

Rachel was born in Watertown on November 28, 1932, daughter of R. Glenn and Frances L. Millard Howe, and she graduated from Clayton High School.

On September 27, 1952 she married Cortland A. "Corty" Reff at St. Mary's Church with Rev. George E. Racette officiating. Corty, an employee of the Thousand Islands School District, died June 27, 2009.

She was a homemaker and had waitressed and bartended at several Clayton establishments including McCormick's and the T. I. Inn. She was a member of the Clayton United Methodist Church and Colon Couch American Legion Post 821 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed making family dinners, knitting, Bingo, and casinos. Rachel was always there, helping others and remembered many people with cards for all occasions.

Rachel is survived by her four children, C. David and Tammy J. Reff, LaFargeville, Diane F. Morinigo, Los Angeles, CA, John G. and Mary Ann Reff, Clayton, and Joseph G. and Michelle Reff, Corona, CA; ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter; her brother, Garth and Tinka Howe, Lake Placid, FL; her sister, Roberta A. and Peter M. Strouse, Clayton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband, Corty, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Fernando Morinigo, and her brother and his wife, William and Jan Howe.
