Ona M. Ivers

Ona M. Ivers, 92, formerly of Gotham St., died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Mercy Center of NNY.

Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Thursday, March 28, from 6 - 8PM. The funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday, March 29, at 11AM with Rev. Joyce Woodcock, First United Methodist Church, officiating and burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.

Ms. Ivers was born in Watertown on March 16, 1921, daughter of Roland M. and Nora Fluno Ivers, and she graduated from Watertown High School in 1936.

She worked for the Agricultural Insurance Co. for over 30 years, beginning in 1943, and was an accounting department clerk. She then worked for NY Casualty Insurance Co., later Harleysville Insurance Co., for 10 years, retiring in 1986.

Ona was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling, gardening, skiing, horseback riding, and after her retirement, playing golf.

She is survived by two nephews, one niece, and several cousins. Her brother, Roland M. Ivers, died June of 2010 and her sister, Muriel H. Green died August of 1998.
