Norma A. Frazier, 87 passed away at her home in Plessis Saturday afternoon, June 28, 2025.
Norma was born in Rochester August 2, 1937, daughter of Sperry W. and Anna B. (Graham) Couch. She attended school in Rochester, then the family moved to the north country. She then went to school on Grindstone Island and graduated from Clayton High School. She had attended Rochester Institute of Technology. In 1983 she received her LPN from Jefferson-Lewis BOCES.
A marriage to Purley Simpson ended in divorce. She then married August E. Frazier on March 14, 1969 at Alexandria Bay Baptist Church. August died December 2, 2002.
Norma worked for Bomax International, Watertown. After receiving her LPN, she began working at E. J. Noble Hospital, Alexandria Bay. After retiring from there she was an independent caregiver.
She was a member of Alexandria Bay Baptist Church. Norma enjoyed The Boomers Exercise at River Hospital. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, crossword puzzles, and boat rides on the River.
Norma is survived by her son, Shane H. (Robin B.) Simpson, Redwood; daughter, Linda L. (Eric W.) Walts, Redwood; son, Stephen E. (Melissa) Frazier, Kansas; six grandchildren, Brandon Simpson, Anna Bassett, Robert Carlisle, Corey Walts, Kristen Frazier, and Holly Ford; several great grandchildren; brother, Arthur (Jerilyn Couch, Indiana and Grindstone Island; two sisters, Linda (John) Wiliams, Oregon and Alice Jolley, Texas; sister-in-law, Carolyn Couch, Virginia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her grandson, Shane Simpson II, brother, William Couch, and brother-in-law James Jolley.
A memorial service will be held at Alexandria Bay Baptist Church on Sunday, July 6, at 3:00 PM with a fellowship dinner to follow. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, July 9, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the home of her granddaughter, Anna Bassett, 103 Highland Ave., Theresa. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton and online condolences to Norma's family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Alexandria Bay Baptist Church, 41 Bolton Ave., Alexandria Bay, NY 13607.
