Nancy J. (Green) Hughes

   Nancy J. Hughes, 89, of Watertown passed away Friday morning, May 30, 2025, at Samaritan Keep Home where she had resided since February 14. Her family wishes to thank the staff on the 2nd floor for their care and devotion to Nancy. 

   Nancy was born in Cicero July 18, 1935, daughter of Frederick E. and Helen K. (Johnston) Green and she was a graduate of N. Syracuse High School. After graduation she moved to Watertown in 1953.

   On April 7, 1956 she married Patrick G. Hughes at Sacred Heart Church, cicero with Fr. Joseph Vaughn officiating. Patrick died September 27, 2001.

   Nancy worked for Cicero State Bank from 1951 - 1953. After raising her family, she began her career in customer service at Watertown Savings Bank in 1971 and retired in 2001. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church. She volunteered for Credo from 2002 - 2014, where she received Volunteer of the Year, and also volunteered at Samaritan Medical Center for three years. Nancy enjoyed playing Bridge, working on jigsaw puzzles, and all kinds of word books.

   She is survived by her four daughters, Cindy L. (Lawrence Jr.) Hoistion, Zellwood, FL, Margaret H. Hoistion, Watertown, Susan M. Hughes, Watertown, and Mary Anne (George Hoistion) Hughes-Hoistion, Watertown; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents and husband, Nancy was predeceased by her three brothers, Paul Green, Charles Stoddard, and George V. Green, and three sisters, Lois Green, Lillian Morey, and Kathleen Cole.

   Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 3, at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown from 5 - 7 PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 4, at 9:15 AM followed by the funeral mass celebrated at St. Patrick's Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in North Watertown Cemetery.
