Michelle "Shelly" Marie (Darou) Woodley

Michelle Marie “Shelly” Woodley, 65, of Clayton, NY passed away peacefully on August 8, 2025, at River Hospital, after a courageous battle with younger-onset Alzheimer’s Disease.

Michelle was born on July 7, 1960 in Watertown, New York, to William and Barbara Darou, just a few minutes after her twin brother, Michael Darou. She graduated from Thousand Islands High School in 1979; shortly afterward she met the love of her life, Danny Woodley. They were married on June 23, 1984 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Clayton, New York.

Michelle’s biggest accomplishment was her children, she was a loving, caring stay-at-home mother who took joy in raising her children. Her passion in life was being a Mimi to her grandson. Even when Alzheimer’s took her memory, it never took her smile or the light behind her eyes when she was with her grandson.

Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Danny Woodley; her two children, Danielle Crowley, Schenectady, and Colby Woodley, Clayton; and her grandson, Benjamin Crowley, also of Schenectady. She is also survived by her siblings, Michael (Lauri) Darou, Carol Darou, Wenda Darou, Mignonette (Kevin) Reff, and William “Billy” Darou, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, William and Barbara Darou.

Michelle’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the entire staff at River Hospital for their care of Michelle in her final days.

As were Michelle’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services, instead, we invite you to watch your favorite horror movie or “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” in her memory.
