Matthew Brenon Obituary

Matthew J. Brenon, 47, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012. Matthew was born December 27, 1964. His parents were Charles F. and Mary-Lyle Herrman Brenon Jr., Brownville, NY. Matthew graduated from General Brown High School, class of 1983, and Paul Smiths College, class of 1985, earning an AAS degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Matt married Anne Peterson on September 12, 1992 at St. Paul‘s Episcopal Church, Watertown, NY.

Matt is survived by his wife Anne and their three children, Luke, and twins Collin and Meganne. As well as four siblings, Charles F. III (Elizabeth), William (Judith), Nicholas (Ramona), and Cynthia (Mari) all living in Brownville, NY, mother-in-law: Alma R. Peterson, Watertown, NY, brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred Peterson (Anne Marie), Summerville, SC, Thom Peterson (Dennis), Watertown, NY, Helen Willard (Frank), Dexter, NY, Jennifer Wood (Terry), Lowville, NY, Ted Peterson (Darcy), Philadelphia, NY, Maternal Aunt Nancy Ricker, Maine, Paternal Aunt Jane Taylor, Brownville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father-in-law Fred H. Peterson, and sister-in-law Payne Peterson.

For many years Matt was known as "MegaMatt" on WCIZ radio station, Watertown, NY. He was also co-owner of Brenon's Coin Machine, Inc., and Music In Motion DJ Service.

Matt was involved with many civic organizations; Brownville Cub Scout Pack 3 as Scout Master, Elks Club Lodge 496, Brownville Volunteer Fire Department, and General Brown Performing Arts Booster Club as Treasurer.

Matt enjoyed cooking, singing, playing cards and games with family and friends, and cheering for the New York Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. He loved playing golf and was a member of the Monday night league at Rustic Golf Club.

He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Watertown, NY and a member of the church choir.

Matt's mother was from Portland, Maine, and as a child they vacationed there often. He enjoyed Old Orchard Beach and would try to vacation there with his family as often as possible.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday October 7, from 1-5 p.m. at Cummings Funeral Service, 214 Sterling Street, Watertown. The funeral service will be held on Monday, October 8, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, Watertown with the Reverend Dr. Richard Laribee, Rector, officiating.
