Mary Marcott Obituary

Mary R. Marcott, 93, of Watertown and formerly of Alexandria Bay passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015, at Samaritan Keep Home where she had been a resident for four years.

Calling hours, a funeral service, and burial in North Watertown Cemetery will be held in the spring. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown. Mary was born in Watertown on October 23, 1921, daughter of H. Wellington and Genevieve Allard Richardson. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1939. On July 11, 1942 she married Donald R. Marcott in Oswegatchie, NY with Rev. C. H. Smith presiding. Mr. Marcott died June 13, 1983. The couple wintered in New Smyrna Beach, FL and after his passing, she wintered in Winterhaven, FL.

She began her career with NY Airbrake in 1956 as a claims adjuster. After 31 years of service to the company she retired. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church and the Jefferson County Historical Society. She volunteered for several years at E. J. Noble Hospital, now River Hospital, in Alexandria Bay. Her enjoyments included knitting, gardening, golfing, traveling, and water aerobics.

She is survived by her three daughters, Donna M. Scofield, Fayetteville, Ann M. Marcott and husband, Jeff Keller, and Kathryn M. Stevens, all of Evans Mills; five grandchildren, J. D. Scofield, Kathryn A. Scofield, Elizabeth M. Pharoah and husband, Bryan, Callie G. Buckley and husband, Chad, and Andrew F. Stevens; two great granddaughters, Isla E. and Eve G. Buckley; stepsister, Connie O'Neill, Clayton; two sisters-in-law, Nan Z. Richardson, Fayetteville and Betty M. McLean, Carthage. There are numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins as well. Besides her husband, Donald, Mary was predeceased by her two sons-in-law, Leslie J. Stevens and John D. Scofield, brother, Joseph O. Richardson, two sisters, Margaret R. Dermady and Kathryn R. Shields, two stepbrothers, William and Frederick Exley, and stepsister, Frances Brown.
