Mary K. Doyle Dermady, 99, of Watertown passed away Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center. She had resided in Samaritan Keep Home and the family would like to thank the staff on the 6th floor for their care and devotion to Mary.
Mary was born in Watertown December 3, 1924, daughter of Theodore D. and Nora (Moran) Keegan. She was a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy and received her three year nursing degree from the Sisters of Mercy. A marriage to William P. Doyle ended in divorce. She married Robert F. Dermady and he died April 23, 2004.
Mary devoted her life to being a Registered Nurse. She worked at House of the Good Samaritan and then in private duty. She also worked for Jefferson County Dept. of Social Services in the fraud unit.
Over the years she was a communicant of both Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, where she attended daily morning mass, and Holy Family Church. Mary enjoyed walking, reading, crossword puzzles, and baking. She loved to knit and every grandchild has something handmade by their grandmother. Times at her Point Salubrious cottage were very special to her.
Mary is survived by her six children, Dr. M. France Doyle, Albuquerque, NM, William P. Doyle II and wife Debra, Watertown, Margaret M. "Peggy" Doyle, Rochester, Eleanor "Noni" Goldfarb and husband David, Rochester, Dr. Nora M. Doyle and husband Dr. Michael Gardner, San Antonio, TX, and Maureen M. Doyle, Farmington; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including her nephew, Jim Keegan, Chaumont. Along with her parents and husband, Mary was predeceased by son Theodore M. "Tim" Doyle, January 20, 1999, and brother Robert J. "Cueball" Keegan.
With her background in healthcare for so many years, it was her honor to donate her body to science. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 4, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown and online condolences to Mary's family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, 320 W. Lynde St., Watertown, NY 13601.
