Margaret M. White, 101, passed away at her home at Ives Hills, Watertown on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Born January 18, 1925, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of Eugene P. and Helen Burke White, she grew up in Utica and graduated from St. Francis de Sales High School in 1942. She received her nursing diploma from St. Elizabeth Hospital in Utica, and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. John's University, and her Master of Arts from Teachers College, Columbia University.
She devoted her life to nursing, serving in hospital and public health roles. She also served multiple counties through the New York State Department of Health, while based in the White Plains regional office.
Peg was beloved by her family and friends. She never spoke an unkind word and lived her faith through generosity and grace. Though she had no children of her own, she was a devoted aunt to her nieces and felt blessed to care for the many babies she delivered.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Gabriella White, Washington DC, two nieces, Helen and Susanna, three great-nieces and two great-nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her two brothers, Alfred J. and Eugene P. White, Jr. and two sisters, Florence A. and Helen R. White.
