Margaret Aumell Obituary

Margaret Rose "Peg" Aumell, 87, Watertown passed away Wednesday evening, March 6, 2024, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Rome, NY.

Peg was born in Ogdensburg on March 26, 1936, daughter of Henry and Rose (Williams) LaRose. After her father's death she was raised by her mother and step father, Lawrence Gorrow. She grew up in Rome, NY and Ogdensburg, NY, graduating from St. Mary's High School.

A marriage to Earl Bohling ended in divorce. Peg married Donald L. Aumell in March of 1971, building a life in Watertown full of family, fishing, gardening, and lifelong friends. Don died on November 22, 2003.

In her younger years, Peg worked as a machine operator at Diamond National in Ogdensburg and at Bomax in Watertown. Peg was primarily a homemaker and child care provider. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, a member of its Altar Rosary Society, and enjoyed being a member of their birthday lunch club. She enjoyed reading the daily paper and doing the puzzles, cooking, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and tending to her garden and flowers. Peg had a deep love of animals, was an avid Yankees fan, loved White Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and enjoyed her shortbread cookies with a good cup of tea.

Margaret Rose is survived by her son Kyle D. Aumell and wife Patricia (Ticia), Watertown; daughter-in-law Christine L. Bohling, Sandy Creek; seven grandchildren, Jaime Kopie and husband Thomas, Whitney McDermott, Allison and Ethan Aumell, and Philip, Joshua, and Jack Marra; four great grandchildren, Aubrie and Landyn Dillon, Maverick McDermott, and Ireland Kopie; sister Lillian Reese and husband Paul, Watertown; very special friends, Paul, Casey and A. J. Garza and Fran Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, step father and husband, Peg was predeceased by her son Jeffrey A. Bohling, December 4, 2020; brother Lawrence Gorrow; and sister Jean Limoges.

Peg’s family extends a special thank you to all of the caregivers at Samaritan Summit Village and The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their care of Mom/Gram in these difficult years.
