Loretta E. Esposito, 93, Watertown passed away Friday evening, Jun 28, 2024, at Samaritan Summit Village.
Loretta was born in Cape Vincent September 26, 1930, daughter of Frank J. and Bertha (Plato) Bond. She was a graduate of Clayton High School and received her Nurse's Aide certificate from BOCES. On May 20, 1951 she married Eric Esposito at St. John's Church, LaFargeville with Rev. Arthur Viau officiating. Eric, a welder for Conrail for 30 years, died February 14, 1981.
Loretta worked for several businesses in Watertown, including F. W. Woolworth, Co., Dalton's Gift Shop, waitressed at the Crystal Restaurant, and cooked at Ives Hill Golf Course and Holy Family Church rectory. She was a nurse's aide at Samaritan Keep Home and retired from JRC.
She was a communicant of Holy Family Church. She lectored, was a Eucharistic and Lay minister, and was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Altar Rosary Society. Loretta was a volunteer and lay associate at the Sisters of St. Joseph. She enjoyed needlepoint, cooking, and entertaining.
She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Edward C. and Mary, Wilton and Charles P. "Chuck: and Barbara, Cazenovia; two daughters and one son-in-law, Janet E. and Dale R. Duffy and Kathleen A. Esposito, all of Watertown; eight grandchildren, Derek, Andrea, Kyle, Mark, Regan, George, Briana, and Amber; eight great grandchildren, Brody, Ben, Peter, Lucy, Riley, Luke, Alaina, and Lenore; four sisters, Carol Burnett, Tyler, TX, Joyce Larkin, Clayton, Donna Sanford, Fishers Landing, and Susan Fitch and husband Roger, Alexandria Bay; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents and husband, Loretta was predeceased by five brothers, Leo, Richard, Paul, Gary, and George Bond, and three sisters, Sharon Longway, Karen Morrow, and Katherine Timerman.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, July 3, at Holy Family Church from 11am to noon followed by the funeral mass celebrated at noon. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown and online condolences to Loretta's family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com.
