Lawrence L. Meeks

Lawrence L. Meeks, 67, Adams, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, August 24, 2013.

The graveside service will be held in St. Lawrence Cemetery, town of Cape Vincent Wednesday, August 28, at 10AM with Pastor Donald Briant, Clayton United Methodist Church officiating. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.

Larry, also known as the Manassas Mauler, was born in Clayton on June 16, 1946, son of Thelma Meeks Stevens and he attended Clayton Central School. Marriages to Norma Ramsey and Diane Collins ended in divorce.

He was the owner and operator of B. F. D. Flooring, Oneonta. He was also a commercial truck driver, working for both Swift, N. Myrtle Beach, and Laser Transit, Lacona. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited for many years. While in Oneonta, he was a dedicated coach, supporter, and father to the high school wrestling team for many years.

He is survived by his five sons, Larry L. Meeks, Jr. and wife, Lisa, Yorktown, VA, Anthony P. Meeks, Myrtle Beach, NC, Nickolas J. Meeks, N. Syracuse, Christopher L. Meeks, Adams, and Kevin W. Meeks, Boone, NC; four grandchildren, Kaleb, Lia, Connor, and Ali Meeks; brother, William "Billy" Stevens, Oneonta; two sisters, Patricia Stevens, Oneonta and Janet Wise and husband, Rod, Dover, DE; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Larry was predeceased by his sister, Karen Stevens Palmeter and his niece, Priscilla Palmeter.
