Kay Price Obituary

Kay Selner Price, 91, of Thousand Island Park, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown—six months to the day after the passing of her husband of sixty-five years, Windsor Morris Price Sr.

Kay was born in Syracuse on July 25, 1934, the daughter of Lester and Lillian (Taylor) Selner. She was a graduate of Nottingham High School, where she served as Vice President of her senior class and was named Best Female Athlete, and she received her bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She grew up spending summers in and on Skaneateles Lake, one of the great joys of her life. On October 1, 1960, she married Windsor Price.

Kay volunteered her services as a physical therapist and caregiver in Skaneateles, where she and Windsor lived for many years. They spent summers on Wellesley Island before making it their permanent home in 1990.

While living in Skaneateles, Kay was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church. She was deeply involved in her community as a member of Leisure Hour, a long-standing literary society, the Skaneateles Ski Club, and the National Ski Patrol. She was also a founding member of the Skaneateles Area Volunteer Emergency Service (SAVES), where she served as both an EMT and ambulance driver. In later years, she was a member of the Church of the St. Lawrence in Alexandria Bay and sang with the Northern Choral Society.

Kay moved through life in a way that set her apart—she did not simply pass through it, she truly experienced it. Adventurous at heart, she loved to travel and embrace all that life had to offer. In her younger years, she was a spirited and fearless competitor, particularly in basketball and skiing, an early reflection of the determination that defined her life. Despite her modest stature, she was known for her competitiveness and drive, traits that carried into every part of her life.

She brought energy, intensity, and purpose to everything she did. A natural leader, she did not wait for things to happen, but made them happen—running toward challenges rather than away from them. She was open-hearted and accepting of people from all walks of life, always willing to lend a hand and show up for others without hesitation. Even in everyday moments, she found joy in being involved in the lives of her family and friends, arriving—often early—with warmth, positivity, and love. She also had a playful, spirited nature that made everything from sports to board games more fun—unless, of course, she was losing.

A voracious reader, she valued learning and growth, though she wore her intelligence lightly. She pursued her passions not for recognition, but as a true expression of who she was.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth S. Price-Kellogg and her husband Jeremy of Clayton; her son, Windsor M. Price, Jr. and his wife Eileen of Skaneateles; and her grandchildren: Islen Craig and her husband Trey, Glenna Croy and her husband Braden, Taylor Price-Kellogg and his wife Kalie, Gaelyn Ames and her husband Jackson, and Blake Price-Kellogg. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Seton Craig, Cecelia Craig, Verity Croy, Bellamy Croy and her twin Elora Croy, Wellesley Ames, and Fendall Ames, with one additional great-grandchild expected soon. She is further survived by her sister, Sally Selner, and her spouse, Cherie Thibodeaux, of Carmel, California, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband, Windsor Price Sr., and her sisters, Patricia Hughes and Charlene Grismore.

Burial in Riverside Cemetery alongside her husband, along with a celebration of their lives, will be held at a date and time to be announced. Arrangements are entrusted to Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton. Online condolences may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s memory may be made to the Northern Choral Society, P.O. Box 842, Watertown, NY 13601, or to Friends of the Minna Anthony Common Nature Center, P.O. Box 111, Wellesley Island, NY 13640.

The burial will be a small gathering for family and close friends. The remembrance gathering at the Pavilion will be welcoming and open to those who knew them.
