Josephine "Josie" L. (Garnsey) Calhoun

   Josephine L “Josie” Calhoun passed away at her home in the town of Clayton on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

   Josie was born on Murray Island, town of Clayton April 2, 1939, a daughter of Thornton and Sylvia (Clark) Garnsey. She attended Grindstone Island and Clayton schools. She married Paul R. Calhoun. He died August 16, 2014.

   She worked various jobs including Clayton Manufacturing Company before beginning her 50 year career at Natali’s C-Way Restaurant retiring in July 2024.

   She was a former member of Clayton United Methodist Church and Agape Church in LaFargeville. She had also been a member of the Ladies Auxiliary American Legion Colon Couch Post 821. She enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles and especially working with her C-way family.

   Josie is survived by her daughter Judy L Agar, Clayton, a son and his wife Paul R and Patty Calhoun Jr. Clayton. A grandson Eric J Agar, a niece and her husband Denise and David Males and their children Nathan and Emily, a nephew John Garnsey and nieces Gail Demianenko, Stacy Natali and Cherie Crossman along with many cousins. Along with her parents and husband she was predeceased by a son in law Peter H Agar in 2003 and her brother Leonard Garnsey. 

   Her family would like to thank Norma Calhoun for her care and devotion to her sister in law Josie. 

   A celebration of life will be held at the C-way Restaurant on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 1-4pm.
