Joseph Gosier Obituary

Joseph W. Gosier, 79, Dimmick St., Watertown, passed away Wednesday morning, November 5, 2014, at his home.

Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Friday, November 7, from 4 - 7PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, November 8, at 10AM with Rev. Jonas Tandayn, pastor, officiating and burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Gosier was born in Cape Vincent on March 21, 1935, the son of Thurston W. and Lucille Wiley Gosier and he graduated from Cape Vincent High School. He served in the US Army National Guard.

He worked at Western Electric and was the owner and operator of Gosier Mobile Homes, both in Watertown. Joe then worked on Ft. Drum as a lineman and retired as the Chief of Telecommunications in 2002.

On August 11, 1999 Joe married Mary E. MacIlvennie Lyon in Stowe, VT.

Joe was a communicant and Lay Missionary of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, a member of its Holy Name Society, and also a member of the Sacred Heart Foundation. He enjoyed carpentry and loved to build anything. Enjoyed anything with a motor, including lawn mowers, motorcycles, cars, tractors, and bulldozers. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and collected vintage cars.

Besides his wife, Mary, he is survived by his four children, Randy J. Gosier, SC, Dale A. Gosier and wife, Bobbie, Watertown, and Scott J. Gosier and wife, Sherri, NC; his wife's children, Jennifer Cronk and husband, Lawrence, Deming, WA, Catherine Footer and husband, Donald, Yorktown, VA, and Patrick Lyon, Adams; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; four siblings, Richard Gosier, FL, Ann Grimsley, Corpus Christi, TX, Jane White and husband, Michael, Watertown, and Doris Kilroy and husband, Timothy, Saranac Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. His brother, Donald, died before him.
