John R. Sugrue

    John R. Sugrue, 90, of Samaritan Summit Village, passed away April 1st at the Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. 

    John was born in Brooklyn March 22, 1936, the son of Charles J. and Ethel (Haverty) Sugrue. After high school graduation, he received a Masters in business.  He was employed for 31 years for the International Hospitality Group in Orlando, Florida retiring as a Corporate Comptroller. 

     He was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church, also enjoying mass at the Sisters of The Precious Blood.  John enjoyed art, statues, classical music, the NY Giants, and The NY Yankees. Additionally he was a member of the Watertown Knights of Columbus Council 259. He is survived by his sister in law, Maureen Sugrue, Lowville, and 5 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he is predeceased by three brothers, Walton, Charles, and Leonard Sugrue. 

      At his request there will be no calling hours, with a Funeral Mass to be held Thursday April 9th at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Church, Watertown, with the burial held at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made in his name to The Sisters of The Precious Blood, 400 Pratt St. Watertown, NY 13601.
