John F. Pecor, 80 the best husband, dad and Poppy went to be with the Lord on October 15, 2025.
John was born to Lloyd Brice and Rosaline Kittle Pecor on May 14, 1945 at Mercy Hospital in Watertown, NY. He graduated from Clayton Central School in 1963.
John met the love of his life, Candie Lou Orvis and they were married on August 13, 1983 at Frontenac Crystal Springs and the marriage was later blessed at St Mary’s Church.
He worked for Crowley Foods, the New York Airbrake and took great pride in his 38 years working for the United States Postal Service. However, the job he adored the most was the one he found after retirement, driving school bus for Thousands Islands Central School District. If you rode Mr. Pecor’s bus you were thought of as one of his own.
He was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary's Church. Showing his devotion to his faith, John was a Eucharistic Minister, cantor, choir member and was involved in the Mystery Players, volunteered as a “chef” for the Booster Club for 15 years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 350 and a Bishop Conroy General Assembly 4th Degree Knight. He had a profound love of music and was a member of the Turning Point Barbershop Chorus and for 24 years he was with River Chorus. He was very devoted to his community and was a lifetime member of the NNY Agricultural Museum in Stone Mills and was Santa for many years in the Clayton Community.
John will be remembered fondly by his family for his sense of humor, laugh and the best hugs ever. And of course, his award-winning mustache will be remembered by all.
We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, Dad and Poppy. His favorite times were spent with his family and friends, always creating the best memories. Whether it was ice skating, pulling the kids around on sleds behind the tractors, or “House on Webb Street” being the most popular place in town for trick or treating for many years in Clayton.
John also enjoyed hunting, woodworking, his Massey Ferguson tractor collection, sharing stories about his pet Bugel, the elephant, and spending time with his friends, some who are still with us and some that have gone before him.
John is survived by the ones he loved the most, Candie; his daughters, Amy L. Robinson (Raymond "Buck"), Clayton, Amanda M. Cantwell (John Matthews), Clayton, Lisa Y. O'Connor (Brendan), FL, and Amy L. Innamorato (Mike Hemstad), LA; he was known as "Poppy" to his nine beloved grandchildren, Brooke (Nick), Sabrina (Ethan), Heather (John), Kyle (Amy), Samantha (Marcus), Emma, one great grandchild, Easton John and one on the way; step great grandchildren ,Hailey (Brian), Anna, and Cody; four siblings, James L. Pecor (Veronica), Chaumont, Mary Margaret Pecor, KS, Alice J. Barton (George), Clayton, and Paula Wills (Will), NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great nieces and great nephews.
Along with his parents, John was predeceased by two sisters, Lillian Ackerman and Georgina Adams, and mother-in-law Almeda Orvis.
He’s left a mark that will never be forgotten, and these memories will carry us through until we see him again.
Above of all John was always “Nearly perfect “.
