John M. Karetas

   John M. Karetas, 70, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, at his residence in Black River.

   John was born in Reading, PA December 1, 1954, son of Angelo and Mary (George) Karetas. He was a graduate of Reading High School and received his BA from Alvernia University, Reading. He served in the US Air Force from October 23, 1973 - May 13, 1974.

   John was an insurance executive for Aetna Life & Casualty Co., working in several different states and retiring in San Francisco, CA. He then moved to the north country. He enjoyed all the friends he made at the YMCA in Watertown.

   He is survived by his two sons, John Alexander Karetas and wife Cara and Jordan Michael Karetas, all of Gulfport, MS, four grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with his parents, John was predeceased by his sister Jennifer Mowbray.

   As per his wishes, there will be no services. John's family would like donations in his name to the Watertown YMCA, 146 Arsenal St., Watertown, NY 13601.
