Jean A. Prevost, 64, Dexter passed away Sunday afternoon, October 13, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center.
Jean was born in Watertown January 25, 1960, and was raised by her mother, Jessie Gowdy, and Bernard O'Hara. She was a 1978 graduate of General Brown High School and received her LPN degree from the nursing program at BOCES.
On September 11, 1992 she married Michael J. Prevost at their home on Mill St. in Watertown.
Jean worked as an LPN for Mercy Hospital, working for the hospital, Urgent Care, and its Dialysis unit. She then worked for Fresenius Kidney Care NNY Renal Center and at Samaritan Health in Clayton. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. Jean enjoyed gardening and photography, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Michael, she is survived by son Matthew D. Gowdy and wife Nancy, Watertown; daughter Morgan L. Prevost, Dexter; eight grandchildren, Dillon, Andrew, Aubrey, Merryn, Ryker, Fiona, Lorna, and Ethan, and great grandson, Colton; three step daughters, Sara L. Prevost, NH, Jennifer M. Lingelbach and husband Dana, NH, and Maria A. Phillips and husband Brian, Watertown; and sister Nancy Grisanti and husband John, Redwood and their family, Shannon and Matt Hoover, Ricky and Nicole Balch, Tom and Emmy Grisanti, and Rollo and Sue Grisanti; two brothers-in-law Robert Prevost and wife Joanna and Jeremy Prevost; two sisters-in-law Karen Stewart and husband Chip and Stephanie Froysell and husband Todd. Jean is predeceased by her mother, Jessie O'Hara; father Bernard O'Hara; and mother and father-in-law Rosalie and Francis Prevost.
As per her wishes, there will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown and online condolences to Jean's family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com. Donations in her name may be made to Fresenius Kidney Care Renal Center, 22571 Summit Dr., Watertown, NY 13601 or to your local American Cancer Society. Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Renal Center, along with Dr. Sindhu, at Samaritan Medical Center ER, PCU, 4 Pavilion, 4 Pratt, and 5 Pratt and Dr. Simpson with SMC Pallative Care for their care and devotion to Jean.
