Jean H. (Russell) Parish

Jean H. Parish, 78, lifelong resident of Fishers Landing, NY, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse. 

Born March 14, 1945 to Ross and Dorothy Russell, she enjoyed sharing her many stories of her childhood and life growing up and living along the shores of the St. Lawrence River. Her father spent years as both a fishing guide and riverboat captain on the river. 

An exceptional chef, Jean enjoyed a lengthy career running the kitchens of many local resorts and restaurants, including The Edgewood and Pine Tree Resorts, Alexandria Bay and The Ramada Inn, Watertown. After many years in the restaurant business, she retired from the Channelside Restaurant, Clayton. 

Jean married Arthur C. Parish on November 30, 1999, who passed away in 2012. She was previously married to Edward Kearns until his passing. 

Jean is survived by her stepchildren William R. (Dianna L) Parish, Orlando, FL and Kristin A (David J) Turan, Syracuse; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several cousins and many dear friends. 

Her bright and welcoming spirit, warm conversation and tremendous cooking will be sorely missed.  

A special heartfelt thank you goes out to Jean’s very close friends and neighbors Ed and Joanne Goldkopf for their many years of support and kindhearted friendship.
