Helen H. Amo, 86, Calcium passed away at her home with her loving family at her side under the care of Hospice of Jefferson County on Tuesday afternoon, November 18, 2025.
Helen was born in LaFargeville January 25, 1939, daughter of Adolf and Anna (Schwarz) Hermann. She was a graduate of Immaculate Heart Academy. On July 13, 1968 she married Clarence J. Amo at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown with Rev. Gerard Bernard officiating. He entered into eternal life on December 8, 2009.
She owned and operated Amo's Income Tax Service for over 45 years. Helen was a communicant of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church. She volunteered at many church and school events, including its Parent Teacher Organization, Sacred Heart School Board, the Festival Committee, and was a choir member. She enjoyed crocheting, collecting coins, her garden and flowers, was an avid reader, and greatly enjoyed the Lawrence Welk program.
Helen is survived by her four daughters, Brenda H. Romeo and husband Frank, Albany, Anna M. Patterson, Calcium, Sharon A. Nebbia and husband Michael, Cape Vincent, and Janet M. Bissi and husband Matthew, Fairport; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as "Great"; two brothers, Robert Herman and wife Patricia, Evans Mills and Carl Herman and wife Lois, Watertown; two sisters, Betty Reff and Sr. Mary Helen Hermann, SSJ, both of Watertown; two sisters-in-law, Clara Hermann, Carthage and Mary Hermann, Calcium; foreign exchange student Susanne Augsberg, MD, Germany; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by son-in-law William Patterson; three brothers, John Hermann, William Hermann, and Albert Hermann and his wife Elizabeth; sister Sr. Cecilia Marie Hermann, SSJ; and brother-in-law Martin Reff.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Thursday, November 20, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church on Friday, November 21, at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
