Francis L. Aubertine, 90, Park Ave., Massena passed away Friday morning, September 20, 2013, at Massena Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at Three Mile Bay Cemetery on Wednesday, September 25, at noon with Pastor Donald Briant officiating. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.
Mr. Aubertine was born in Cape Vincent on July 20, 1923, son of Raymond and Marietta Whitney Aubertine and he attended local schools.
He entered the US Army on January 14, 1943 and served in Rhineland, Ardennes, Central Europe, Normandy and Northern France. He received the American Service, European-African-Middle Eastern Service, Good Conduct, and World War II Victory Medals and was honorably discharged as a PFC on December 24, 1945.
On October 20, 1947 he married Pauline I. LaRue in Watertown.
He worked for over 37 years for Alcoa in Massena and retired in 1983 as a tapper. Francis was a member of both the Massena Moose Lodge #1110 and the VFW Post #1143. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Besides his wife, Pauline, he is survived by his two sons, Richard, Massena and Thomas and wife, Wanda, Parish; two daughters, Nancy Rowell, Three Mile Bay and Doris Jandreau and husband, Fred, Massena; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Leland, Brewerton and Frederick, Chaumont; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. His brothers, Milton and Robert, and his sister, Anna Bechaz, died before him.
