Edward F. Prevost, 94, passed away at his home in Watertown surrounded by his family Saturday afternoon, June 6, 2026.

   Edward was born in Theresa July 24, 1931, son of Leo J. and Zelda (Visscher) Prevost. He was a 1950 graduate of Watertown High School and attended Rochester Institute of Technology. 

   He entered the US Marine Corp on January 24, 1951. Edward received a Purple Heart for wounds received in action on September 12, 1951 in Korea. He also received the UN Service, National Defense Service, and Korean Service Medals. He was honorably discharged on January 23, 1954.

   On June 11, 1955 he married Caroline J. Castro at St. Anthony's Church. with Msgr. Dennis Lynch officiating.

   Edward worked for Watertown Savings Bank from 1955 - 1966. He then joined Jeff Lewis Savings & Loan, serving as Vice President and Treasurer from 1966 - 1975 and as President and CEO from 1975 - 1980, resigning on December 31, 1980. He was then the owner of Riverside Mini Market, Glen Park from 1981 - 1995. He became a Real Estate Agent and worked for Coldwell Banker from 1995 - 2014, when he retired.

   Edward was a faithful communicant of St. Anthony's Church. He was a regular life member of Lewis County Marine Corp League #754. For 37 years, he loved to run.  He ran three marathons and raced throughout the US and Canada, logging 31,801 miles.

   Along with his wife, Caroline, Edward is survived by his son, Edward R. (Janet M.) Prevost, Watertown; three daughters, Terri A. (Michael J.) Fortunato, Lisa M. Prevost, and Karen M. (Stephen D.) Wise, all of Watertown; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dale Ritchie, Kingston, Ontario; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

   Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Wednesday, June 10, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm. HIs funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 11, at 10:00 am followed by burial with military honors in Glenwood Cemetery.
