Dorothy Yanaitis Obituary

Dorothy B. Yanaitis, 93, Clayton and formerly of Rochester passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at Samaritan Medical Center. A graveside service will be held in October at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Rochester. There will be no calling hours or funeral service and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.

Dorothy was born in Newark, NY on November 11, 192?1?, daughter of Harry and Mary Ward Bidwell. She graduated from Newark Central School and attended Russell Sage College. In 194?8 she married Edward R. Yanaitis in Rochester and he died in 1997. She worked for several doctors and medical supply companies in the Rochester area, retiring from Physician's Supply in Rochester. She was a member for over 50 years of American Legion Guidinas Post 459 Auxiliary. Dorothy loved reading, solving crossword puzzles and bird watching. In her early years she had enjoyed bowling.

She is survived by her three children, Mary Kay Yanaitis, Carthage, Stephen Yanaitis, Rochester, and Elizabeth and Bruce Daugherty, Clayton; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren, Christin and Anthony Filippelli, and their children, Anthony, Joseph and Ian, all of Yonkers and Daniel and Kelly Daugherty, and their children Caitlin and Brendan, all of Watertown and one cousin, Doris Smith, of Rochester.
