Dorothy M. Morgia, 94, Conger Ave., formerly of Cedar St., passed away Tuesday evening, September 10, 2013, in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Friday, September 13, from 4 - 7PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church on Saturday, September 14, at 10AM with Rev. Donald Robinson officiating and burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Morgia was born in Watertown on January 6, 1919, daughter of Lawrence and Bertha Abbott Smith Buckman and she graduated from Watertown High School.
On November 23, 1936 she married Frank J. Morgia at St. Anthony's Church with Rev. James A. Fix officiating. Mr. Morgia died October 17, 1976.
She was associated with her husband for 42 years at Morgia Inc., which ran Morgia's Restaurant, Watertown, Morgia's Hotel and Motel, Sackets Harbor, and Morgia's Clam Shed. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of its Altar & Rosary Society. She was a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Jolly Club.
Mrs. Morgia is survived by her five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marie Morgia, Watertown and Helen Hjort, Oneida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her husband, Frank, she was predeceased by her two sons, David A., September 20, 1993, and F. Terry Morgia, July 30, 2010, her great grandson, Robby Morgia, and her two brothers, Robert and Lawrence Buckman.
