Dorothy C. (Clinch) Cahill

   Dorothy C. Cahill, 92, of Watertown, died on Monday morning, March 25, 2024, at Samaritan Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

   Dorothy was born in Warsaw on September 27, 1931, daughter of Frank and Doris (Weaver) Clinch. The family moved to Watertown where she graduated from Watertown High School, later receiving her BS from St. Lawrence University in Psychology. She married Thomas J. Cahill on January 1, 1955 at Holy Family Church with Rev. Francis J. Bayette officiating. Mr. Cahill, co-owner of Cahill Sporting Goods, died July 10, 1999.

   Dorothy had worked for the N.Y. Telephone Co., then was a case worker for the Jefferson County Social Services for over 15 years. While there she was instrumental in founding the Angel Tree Christmas Toy Donation Program.

   A communicant of Holy Family Church, she had enviable gardens, having been included in the Historical Societies Garden Tours. She enjoyed bird watching, nature, knitting, crocheting, with her dish cloths, towels and hot pads in many homes. She enjoyed following and attending her grandchildren's sporting events and watching Yankee and Mets games on TV.  

   She is survived by her 4 children, Catherine E., Watertown, Thomas P. and his wife Kim A., Watertown, Christine A. Campany, Watertown, and Sharon M. and her wife Tracy Stanford, Sackets Harbor; and 6 grandchildren, Stephanie M. Cahill, Thomas G. Cahill, Michael R. Campany, Lonnie A. Campany, Jon Chamberlain and Paul Chamberlain.

   The family would like to extend their thanks to Stacy Ramsey and Kevan Houghmaster for their assistance in taking care of Dorothy.

   Calling hours will be held at the Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Friday, March 29, from 4 - 7 pm, with a prayer service immediately following at 7 pm. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery will be  at the convenience of the family.
