Doris C. Wiley, 96, passed away at her home in the town of Cape Vincent Monday, March 3, 2025, with her loving family at her side.
Doris was born in Clayton September 8, 1928, daughter of Morris E. Alma M. (Percy) Cornwell. She was a graduate of Clayton High School and the Syracuse School of Business. On August 12, 1950 she married Harold L. Wiley at St. Vincent of Paul Church, Cape Vincent. Harold died May 11, 2024.
Doris worked for a short time as a bookkeeper for Frink SnoPlow, Clayton and as an administrative assistant for Barnard & Worden Insurance Agency, Cape Vincent. Doris was a communicant of St. Vincent of Paul Church and was a member of its Altar Rosary Society, member of the PTA, and the TI Booster Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, sunsets, and being outdoors. Doris and Harold attended all of the sporting events for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Time spent with her family at the cottage was very precious to her - all the dinners, picnics, and celebrations.
Doris is survived by her three sons, Michael P. (Lori A.) Wiley, Clayton, John M. (Debra A.) Wiley and Daniel A. (Karen S.) Wiley, all of Cape Vincent; daughter Mary Anne Townsend, Syracuse and Cape Vincent; 16 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren with one on the way; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her parents and husband, Doris was predeceased by her son Patrick J. Wiley, December 7, 2022; daughter-in-law Vicky Wiley, April 13, 2013; grandson, Greg Wiley February 22, 2015; and her twin sister Lois C. Bannister, April 10, 2023.
Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8, at 11:00 AM at St. Vincent of Paul Church, Cape Vincent. A celebration of her life will follow at Recreation Park 602 South James St., Cape Vincent. Please come and visit with the family after the mass.
