Doris Shortt Obituary

Doris B. "Casey" Wilder Shortt, 90, Davidson St., Watertown passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, at Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm.

Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., 214 Sterling St., Watertown on Thursday, January 14, from 2 - 4PM. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church on Friday, January 15, at 10AM followed by burial in Glenwood Cemetery.

Casey was born in Lowville on November 1, 1925, daughter of A. and Jessie Bence Cannan. She worked as a registered nurse for Dr. John Kennedy in Watertown. She was a communicant and Chaplain of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church and also was in charge of its bereavement committee. Casey was a nine year member of the Sacred Heart Foundation Board of Directors and a current member of its Honorary Council.

She is survived by her son, Philip A. Wilder, Watertown and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Both her husbands, Gerald A. Wilder, Sr. and Elmer Shortt, and her seven brothers died before her.
