David E. Wilder

David Wilder Obituary

   David E. Wilder, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in Chaumont Thursday, February 13, 2025 with his loving family at his side.  David was born in Watertown December 24, 1938.  He was the son of Norman E. and Anna (Trevett) Wilder.  David attended Watertown schools and in March of 1959, he enlisted in the United States Navy. David returned to Watertown after he left the Navy in March 1963, where he continued his learned trade. 

   On September 9, 1967 he married his wife of 57 years, JoAnn Michalski of Oswego.  David spent his career as an electrician and apprenticeship instructor for IBEW Local 910 in Watertown. He was a Navy Certified Firefighter and former volunteer for the Town of Watertown Volunteer Fire Department.  He was also a member of American Legion Post 61 and Tin Can Soldier, and former member of the Northern Tier Trap League, including Watertown Sportsman's Club, and the Sackets Harbor Sportsman's Club, and the Central New York Trap League for Toad Harbor Sportsman's Club. David enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, golfing, bowling and playing pool.  Anyone who knew David was certain to be greeted with just a little bit of sarcastic humor.  K.I.S.S. 

   Along with his wife, JoAnn, David is survived by his daughter, Amy J. Wilder and partner, Randall D. Alsup, Chaumont; daugher-in-law Jennifer A. Wilder, Aubrey, TX; six grandchildren, Miranda (Andrew) Reed, Devian Wilder, Alexis LaRose, Taylor (Brittany) Nutz, David Wilder, and Emma Nutz; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother Dean E. Wilder; sisters-in-law Dorothy Carr, Missie (Frank) Fox, Alice Michalski and brother-in-law John Michalski.  Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his two sons, D. Sean Wilder (2015), Todd M. Wilder (2011) and brother-in-law, William Carr (2024).

   As per his wishes there will be no services. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown and online condolences to his family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers the family asks you please make donations in David's name to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
