Darlene "Dolly" J. Garno, 74, Watertown and formerly of Cranberry Lake and Tupper Lake, passed away Tuesday morning, February 25, 2025, at Samaritan Medical Center.
Dolly was born September 17, 1950, daughter of Fred and Marie (McKinney) Smith. She was a graduate of Clifton Fine High School.
On January 15, 1972 she married Charles N. "Chuck" Garno in Ogdensburg. He passed on March 3, 2022, just after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.
Dolly held many careers over the years and was a dedicated wife, mother, family member and friend. She spent most of her life in Cranberry Lake enjoying the natural beauty and close family. After living in Tupper Lake for 10 years, the couple moved to Watertown in 2013 to be closer to their daughter. She enjoyed walking and hiking, gardening and flowers, cooking, and pets - hers and everyone else's.
Dolly is survived by her daughter Anne M. Garno, Watertown; two brothers, Andy Smith and wife Susan, Cranberry Lake and Dan Smith and wife Beth, Arkansas; sister-in-law Terri Smith, Cranberry Lake; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Kelly Smith.
Burial will be in Cranberry Lake at her family's convenience. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown and online condolences to Dolly's family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite animal rescue.
