Daniel J. Villa, 73, Three Mile Bay passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester.

   Dan was born in Glens Falls on June 15, 1953, son of Peter J. and Carol (Lyons) Villa. He was a graduate of South Glens Falls High School and received his B. S. from the Albany School of Pharmacy. On June 21, 1975 he married Nancy L. Baker at the First Presbyterian Church of Glens Falls.

   He began his 31-year career at Kinney Drugs as a pharmacist. Dan rose through the ranks, becoming first a store manager, then District Manager. Later, he would serve as VP of Operations, then VP of Human Resources, and, ultimately, retired as the President of Pro-Act of Kinney Drugs. After his retirement he served as the Executive Director of Red Cross of NNY for three years. In addition to his work at the Red Cross, he served as an interim director of the Victim's Assistance Center.

   Dan was a member of the Catholic communities of Chaumont, Cape Vincent, and Rosiere, attending All Saints Church, Chaumont. He served on the Parish Council and as a lector. He was a member, former President, and served on the honorary council of the Sacred Heart Foundation. Dan dedicated much of his life to serving his community, receiving the Israel A. Shapiro Citizenship Award in 2008.  Dan was a member of the Samaritan Society, Watertown Sunrise Rotary, and NYS Board of Pharmacy. He dedicated 12 years as trustee to the Samaritan Medical Center and Jefferson Community College Boards, and was a past president for both.  His long list of civic activities included serving as a member of the executive board of the Hiawatha-Seaway Council, Boy Scouts of America, Watertown City School District Board of Education, and member of the Lyme Town Planning Board.  He also spent time on the Syracuse Symphony Board of Directors, Watertown Family YMCA Board of Directors, Greater Watertown-North Country Chamber of Commerce, and with the Mental Health Association of Jefferson County. He was a proud supporter of Hospice of Jefferson County and had served as its Pharmacist. 

  As important as his community was to him, Dan valued time with his family.  In the 90’s, you could find him at hair metal concerts with his daughter or at the ballpark with his son, visiting all but two of the Major League ball parks together. He and his wife, Nancy, enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage which they recently celebrated with an Alaskan cruise.  They spent the last 12 years enjoying their winters in Islamorada in the Florida Keys. Dan loved watching songbirds and built feeders and bird houses around his home. He enjoyed duck hunting, traveling, woodworking, landscaping, and was a constant tinkerer.

   Along with his wife, Nancy, Dan is survived by his daughter, Dr. Allison H. Villa, Hicksville; son, Adam D. (Amber) Villa, Cambridge, MA;  grandson, James A. Villa; brother Peter J. (Kathleen) Villa, Brockport; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

   Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Monday, July 20, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Church, Watertown. Online condolences to Dan's family may be posted at www.cummingsfuneral.com.
