Daniel J. Briggs, 16, town of Clayton, died at his home on Monday evening, March 3, 2014.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., 320 John St., Clayton on Friday, March 7, from 3 - 7PM. The funeral mass will be at Holy Family Church, 129 Winthrop St., Watertown on Saturday, March 8, at 10AM with Rev. Steven Murray officiating and burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Daniel was born in Carthage on May 7, 1997, the son of Robbie B. and Amy J. Leonard Briggs. He was an eleventh grade student at Thousand Islands Central School. He was Catholic and had been baptized at Holy Family Church. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, and listening to his music.
Besides his parents, Robbie and Amy, he is survived by his brother, Michael A. Briggs, at home; his maternal grandmother, Mary M. "MeMa" Leonard, Watertown; paternal grandmother, Beverle Gilmore and her husband, James, Spring Hill, FL; paternal grandfather, Robert Briggs and his wife, Darlene, Roosevelttown, NY; uncle, David K. Leonard and wife, Kimberly, Black River; 2 aunts, Kimberly Bassano, FL and Kimmie Leonard, Black River; and several cousins.
