Cynthia Mae Brown, 60, Watertown and formerly of Adams Center, passed away peacefully March 17, 2026 surrounded by the love and memories of those who knew her.
Cindy Mae was born in Watertown June 23, 1965, daughter of Gary E. and Helen C. (Rhode) Brown and she was a 1986 graduate of Watertown High School. She spent most of her life in Adams Center, where she had attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church, before moving to ARC group homes in 2010, forming many meaningful friendships with both residents and staff. She went on to be an active and beloved participant in programs through ARC and DPAO. Cindy Mae especially enjoyed attending concerts, dances, and bowling through these programs, sharing many special moments with her dear friend Joey.
Cindy Mae lived life with enthusiasm and joy. She participated in the Special Olympics and was a member of TOPS. She enjoyed many hobbies and interests including NASCAR, swimming, bowling, watching television, coloring, and listening to music, especially Elvis and Bob Kissell. Summers spent at the family cottage at Pillar Point were among her happiest memories.
Cindy Mae loved to travel. Whether it was flying to new places, taking road trips, or enjoying cruises, she embraced every adventure. Of all the places she visited, Hawaii always held a special place in her heart.
Her family is forever grateful for the many caregivers and compassionate staff who supported her throughout the years, especially those at her group homes on Ten Eyck and most recently Holcomb Streets, with a special thank you to Heather. Their kindness, patience and care meant so much to Cindy Mae and her family. We would also like to thank the staff at Samaritan Medical Center.
She is survived by her two loving sisters, Christine Dirr, Riverview, FL and Carol Bellinger, Southampton, MA; sister-in-law Sandra Brown, Concord, NC; several nieces and nephews, including a
very special niece, Melissa, who will always be "Frog" to Cindy Mae; and many cousins and an aunt who will cherish her memory. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Roger and Victor Brown; and brother-in-law Peter Bellinger.
