Clayton M. Jank, 97, Watertown passed away peacefully Saturday evening, June 21, 2025, at Samaritan Summit Village where he had resided for a year and a half.
Clayton was born in Buffalo October 15, 1927, son of Edward and Rose (Kunz) Jank. On September 6, 1946 he entered the US Army and served in Japan. He received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan. He was honorably discharged on December 19, 1947.
After the Army he received his B. S. in Engineering from Purdue University. On May 1, 1954 he married Mary Ann Slattery at the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center, Purdue University with Rev. Thomas Heilman officiating.
After their marriage the couple moved to Hamilton, OH and they moved to Watertown on October 1, 1959. Clayton had worked for NY Airbrake.
Clayton was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church and was a former usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was a 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council 350. He was a former board member for the SciTech Center. He enjoyed volunteering, including for the Volunteer Transportation Center, Meals on Wheels, Hospice, driving the DAV vehicle, and doing taxes at CAPC. He also enjoyed hunting, and spending time with his children and their families.
Clayton is survived by his eight children, Robert E. Jank and partner Kim Woodward, Forestville, Mary Ellen (Paul J.) Kopydlowski, Lake Zurich, IL, Susan M. (Mark W.) Sennett, Rochester, Regina L. (Michael) Markus, Greenfield Center, Thomas J. (Monica) Jank, Tomball, TX, Carol A. Jank, Watertown, Colleen L. Jank, Rochester, and Christopher J. (Paula) Jank, Watertown; daughter-in-law Mary Jank, Cape Vincent; seventeen grandchildren and three great granddaughters; and Many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann, November 5, 1996, son Patrick M. Jank, March 24, 2019, brother Herbert Jank, and sister Evelyn Hartigan.
Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Thursday, June 26, from 6 - 8 PM. A prayer service will be at the funeral home on Friday, June 27, at 9:15 AM followed by his funeral mass celebrated at St. Patrick's Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
