Powers Family,
I am sadden to hear Mr. Powers has passed. I send you my condolences. I was a neighbor across the street from you when I was a very little girl.(I moved away in 1969) I remember going to your house that was on the corner lot. May memories comfort you.

Dear Gary, Kathy and Julie and families,
So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing today. Seeing him marching down to the post office lately when most folks his age and with his physical challenges would have been taking it easy reminded me of the many lessons of hard work and focus he conveyed to so many players, myself include, during his long and storied coaching career. He was a fundamentals guy when it came to coaching, I think, and he taught his players to be fundamentally respectful of their talents, embrace any opportunity to be excellent and to play hard until the last whistle blows. Thanks, Coach!
