Leona M. KittleLeona M. Kittle, 96, Clayton, passed away Saturday morning, October 14, 2017, at Hospice of Jefferson County at the Ellis Farm.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 10AM on June 30, 2018 at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Arthur J. LaBaff, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery followed by a celebration of her life. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.

Leona was born in Watertown on September 25, 1921, daughter of Bert and Ella Mason McCrea. She was a 1939 graduate of Clayton High School. On August 9, 1948 she married James Murray Kittle in Lima and he passed on July 19, 1997.

She worked as a medical secretary for Dr. William Heady and retired from Thousand Island Medical Group, Alexandria Bay after 20 years of service to the group. Leona was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and was a member of its St. Anne's and Altar & Rosary Societies. She was also a member of the American Medical Association, American Legion Post 821 Auxiliary, and both Natali's and Clayton Country Clubs. She was an avid golfer and bridge player.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Karen M. and David J. Goetz, Clayton and Livingston, TX, Kevin M. and Sue Kittle, and Keith J. and Canadice Kittle, all of Clayton and Leesburg, FL, and Kathy A. and Patrick L. Evans, Watertown and Leesburg, FL; ten grandchildren and sixteen and a half (yes, one on the way) great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Along with her husband, Leona was predeceased by her brother, Lyle McCrea, and three sisters, Mildred Wilson, Grace Theibeau, and Alta Estes.

No matter the age or circumstances, losing one's Mom is never easy... My sincere condolences to all of you.....I have many fond memories of Leona...She truly was a kind, special woman, as evidenced by all of her 'children'.... I hope all of the memories you have of her give you comfort, a few giggles and renewed love for her and for each other.
