Charline P. Johnson

August 3, 2016

Charline P. Johnson, 54, of Watertown passed away on the morning of August 3, 2016 at Samaritan Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born April 28, 1962 at Mercy Hospital in Watertown to Charles & Joyce B. (Adams McIntyre) Johnson. She attended Watertown Schools.

Charline worked as a Job Coach for JRC, then as a Home Care Provider, caring for many developmentally disabled adults in her home, treating them as her extended family. Later she worked caring for elderly patients in their homes, cooking meals, cleaning and providing personal care….and always with a witty comment and a smile. She had a big, strong, giving heart that always put others before herself.

She enjoyed collecting antiques, searching for hidden treasures in shops and yard sales.

She also enjoyed working with her hands “fixing things”, challenging herself to repairs something that she had never done before.

Charline was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Johnson, Watertown; her father Charles Johnson, Watertown; her sister, Susan (Timothy ) Beach, Lafargeville; and her brother , Steven McIntyre, Kingston, Ontario.

She is survived by her bothers, Glenn McIntyre and Charles McIntyre, both of Watertown; her sisters, Holly (Gary) Booth, Church Hill, Tennessee and Linda (Richard) Hayes, Watertown; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and several very special friends including: Henry and Naomi Hooker, Florida; Ray Carpenter, Watertown; and Jean Palmer, Syracuse. Her sense of humor and quick wit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at Samaritan Medical Center; her Primary Care Physician, Dr. Roache and his staff; and Bolton’s Pharmacy.

Per Charline's request, there will be no calling hours. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to SNYP Program of SPCA of Jefferson County, 25056 Water St., Watertown, NY 13601. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown and online condolences to her family may be made at www.cummingsfuneral.com.

I went to school with Charline and considered her a friend . She always made me smile and she would come up with the funniest come backs. Time to time I would run into her and she never lost her sense of humor. I truly thank God that she touched my life and know that her affect on all she surrounded was what she was here for. Well done Charline Rest in peace .

Marcia S. Treadwell and her family are very indebted to Charline. She was the ultimate caregiver.... always steady, always reliable and always passionate. Her dry, not so subtle humor was evenly matched to Marcia's! And, Charline kept pace with her independent spirit, but shrinking energy. We loved her as our family member, and were so pleased she attended the Celebration of Life Party for Marcia.... even though her health was failing and the cancer pain was increasing. We will miss her smile and her always-positive attitude. I am sure Marcia was at the gates to welcome her, and that they are now sparring with one-liners to outdo each other!
