Nina M. Locke, 91, of Clayton, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at Samaritan Keep Home, Watertown where she had resided for a year.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 13, at 11AM at St. Mary's Church, Clayton with Rev. Arthur J. LaBaff, pastor, presiding and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours and arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Clayton.

Nina was born on March 19, 1925 in Cape Vincent, daughter of Leon J. and Genevieve R. McKeever Reff and she attended St. Mary's School. On November 25, 1952 she married Charles Richard "Dick" Locke at St. Mary's Church with Rev. George E. Racette officiating. Mr. Locke died November 27, 1980.

She worked as a waitress in several restaurants in the Clayton and Cape Vincent communities, including C-Way Restaurant and T. I. Club on Wellesley Island. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, a member of its St. Anne Society, and also a member of Knights of Columbus Council 350 Auxiliary. Nina was an exempt member of the Clayton Volunteer Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary. She was one of the first resident of the Elder Cottages on Strawberry Lane, living there for over eighteen years, and enjoyed crossword puzzles and especially was a loving and caring grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her three children, Jeanne M. Locke, Rome, Richard J. Locke, N. Syracuse, and Timothy J. Locke and wife, Susan, Clayton; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband, Dick, Nina was predeceased by her six brothers, Ross J., Paul J., Otis N., Robert L., Claude L., and Howard A. Reff and three sisters, Reba M. Sullivan, Anna F. Shaw, and Mary G. Woodley.
