Carrie E. MerrittCarrie E. Merritt, 51, Butterfield Ave., Watertown passed away at her home on Saturday, June 4, 2016.

Calling hours will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Thursday, June 9, from 4 - 6PM with a funeral service to follow with Pastor Terry Alford, Smithville Baptist Church, presiding. Burial in North Watertown Cemetery will be at the family's convenience.

Carrie was born in Watertown on September 22, 1964, daughter of Charles A. and Katherine L. (Delaney) Wood. She was a 1982 graduate of General Brown High School. She worked for over 20 years with H & R Block and was a senior tax advisor until the time of her death.

She attended Smithville Baptist Church and was a member of American Legion Post 61 Auxiliary and Eagles Aerie 782. Carrie enjoyed reading, dancing, traveling, going to her camp and the beach, and especially spending time with her family and her dogs.

She is survived by her long time companion, Stanley F. Thomas, Jr.; mother, Katherine L. Knapp, Watertown; father and his wife, Charles and Sue Wood, Depauville; two sons, Corey M. J. Wood and Stanley R. Thomas, both of Watertown; brother and his wife, Charlie A. and Darcey Wood, Pillar Point; sister and her husband, Cindy E. and Jim Davis, Barnes Corners; and two nieces and four nephews.

Donations in her name may be made to Walker Cancer Treatment Center at Samaritan Medical Center, 830 Washington St., Watertown, NY 13601. Online condolences to Carrie's family may be made at www.cummingsfuneral.com.
