Rita A. Phillips

Rita A. Phillips, 93, of Watertown passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Samaritan Medical Center.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Church on Wednesday, March 30, at 2:00 PM with Msgr. Robert Aucoin presiding. Burial will be at the family's convenience in St. Agatha's Cemetery, Canastota. Arrangements are entrusted with Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.

Rita was born in Canastota on June 18, 1922, daughter of James and Madeline Moore Pontillo, and had attended local schools. She was a homemaker and a communicant of both St. Patrick's Church and Sisters of the Precious Blood Monastery.

She is survived by her two sons, Dr. Dean J. Phillips and wife, Ann E., Watertown and Dr. Brian D. Phillips, Grand Rapids, MI; two grandchildren, Tristan and Afton; and sister, Theresa Sirroco and husband, Mike, FL. Her brothers, Albert and Thomas Pontillo, died before her.

Rita was a model for us to follow. She loved God as I
can never achieve. She was a true gift in our presence.
