Marie S. Thomson, 95, of Penfield, N.Y. and formerly a long time resident of Watertown, N.Y. passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Highland Hospital, Rochester, N.Y.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on March 12, 2016 at 10AM at Holy Family Church, with burial following in Glenwood Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are entrusted to Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown.
Marie was born in Brooklyn, NY on January 29, 1920, daughter of Cesar C. and Catherine Connell Scott and she was raised by her father and stepmother, Annie Dowd Scott. The family moved to Watertown in 1929 and she attended both St. Patrick's and Holy Family Schools, before graduating from Immaculate Heart Academy. A marriage to Cecil "Ted" Roulston in 1941 later ended in divorce. She was married to Francis R. Wilson in 1955 until he died September 8, 1979. Later she was married to Rexford C. Thomson until his death on August 5, 1983.
Marie worked with and assisted her father in the operation of the Cold Creek Inn before she moved to New York City, where she did secretarial and restaurant work. Later, she returned to Watertown, where Marie and Frank owned and operated the Crest Restaurant. In the mid 1970's, Marie began working for The House of the Good Samaritan and later was an administrative secretary at the Samaritan Keep Home. She retired after a combined 21 years of service to the hospital and nursing home.
Marie was a former communicant of Holy Family Church and volunteered for the church's bingo. She was a member of the Samaritan Loyals and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Watertown. She had also enjoyed volunteering for the Victim's Assistance Center.
Marie is survived by her two sons and their wives, Kenneth S. and Deborah Wilson, Rochester, N.Y. and Terrance A. and Karen Wilson, Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Alexandra, and Jason Wilson; her brother and his wife, Donald and Sally Scott, Dexter, N.Y.; a nephew James C. Holland, Sebastian, FL; many other nieces and nephews; a stepdaughter, Martha Siedlecki, Sacramento, CA; plus numerous step grandchildren and numerous step greatgrandchildren. Besides her husbands, she was predeceased by her granddaughter Juliane Wilson, two brothers, Eugene and Pierre Scott, and a sister, Mercedes Scott Dains plus her stepdaughter, Cecile Millspaugh.
